Hoist the Colours Storyline
Part 1: The beginning
Note: Storyline doesn’t support choosing custom ship, hero portrait or other options. You can only tweak the difficulty level.
This game has 2 main storylines which introduce you to different characters, they then join up to enable you to play through the film the Curse of the Black Pearl.
There are also several side quests with the Pirate Lords.
Guy Verbinski, the protagonist, finds himself in the early evening on Tortuga jetty. He looks for a room to stay. Go to tavern – it’s located to the far left along the docks. (Loading in this tavern takes a bit longer than usual, so be patient, don’t press any key or something.) Talk to the tavernkeeper (John Adams). Ask for a room to stay. He will tell you that no vacancies available this evening. There is a pirate congress going on, so all rooms are taken.

A monologue will start (Guy Verbinski talking to himself). From the other corner of the tavern, Joshamee Gibbs asks you to join his table for a cup of rum. By the table, he starts telling you the story of an amazing young lad named Jack Sparrow. Follow what the dialog says. Once the dialog ends, screen reloads to Grand Cayman shore, where you find yourself playing as young Jack Sparrow (the narrator’s perpective has changed, so you are now playing the story that Gibbs is telling to Guy Verbinski in the tavern).

Go to port gates. An English soldier talks to you and tells you that you are arrested. Auto-teleported to Grand Cayman Townhall. Inside, Port Guard speaks to you. Just follow what the dialog says. Tia Dalma (from the movie) walks past you and goes outside. Matthew Shaw speaks. After that, your hero auto-walks to Edward Teague (your father) who sits at the governor’s desk, while the governor (Matthew Shaw) is standing next to him. Auto-dialog with Edward Teague (in short, he tells you that pirates have been breaking the code lately, going after treasures that should’ve been left where they belong). Edward Teague then leaves in a hurry, and you are left with Matthew Shaw, who continues the conversation with you. He tells you that he’s not the governor, and that you have to hurry up, cause the governor will be back soon. You tell him that you thought he was the governor, but he replies that he only looks like him. He then tells you that you should sail to Speightstown in Barbados and ask around (doesn’t tell you what to look for). Gives you your father’s sword. – Questbook update
Part 2: My early days
Go outside. First of all, open inventory using F2 key and equip Jack Sparrow’s Cutlass. It gives you +1 Melee and has damage of 10/65. Then, talk to Thomas Tipman (a man in white coat standing by the gate). He tells you that you might want to visit tavern. Go to tavern (it’s on the right side, a few steps from the gates). Inside, find Thomas the Terror (man with a hat standing next to the bar). Talk to him (long dialog, read what he says). He joins you as he was also heading to Speightstown.
Sail to Speightstown (Barbados). On jetty, Thomas the Terror speaks to you and says farewell. [SAVE HERE]
On your right side, an officer is standing. His name is Lieutenant Bligh. Talk to him.

After dialog, he leaves and goes to the gates. Go into town. Go to tavern (a house on the left side from the gates). Talk to tavernkeeper. Ask for work (choose option: “Everard, let’s talk”). He tells you to talk to that drunk over there (meaning the guy sitting on the ground near the stairs). Now you have two choices: either talk to Billy Brock (the drunk man), or to Sir Cristopher Mings, who sits by the table and looks like a governor (check screenshot).
Third choice (a trap and redundant – leads to a dead end, read the explanation below!)
The Maykin Blundas trap
In tavern, if you talk to Maykin Blundas who is walking around upstairs, he tells you something about Cortez treasure and how he’s looking for a partner. If you agree, he tells you to wait for him on the jetty. If you go there and speak to him, he tells you that you will die (starts a fight, but you can’t kill him – he’s invincible). After a few hits with the sword, he just starts running around the port, and you have hit a dead end. I have no idea why they’ve put this in the storyline, but if you ask me, just ignore the dialog with him and don’t talk to him at all.
If you have, however, spoken to him and found this guide afterwards, then hopefully you have a save file to load prior to speaking to him.

Important: If you have landed in Speightstown and only spoken to Thomas the Terror on jetty (where he says farewell), and went directly to tavern (skipped talking to Lieutenant Bligh on jetty), then you will only see the drunk man Billy Brock, Sir Cristopher Mings won’t spawn in tavern. But keep in mind, Sir Cristopher Mings opens up a different storyline. Both storylines, however, take you to The Curse of Black Pearl quest.
Part 3: The Brock – Brinkley Quest
Talk to Billy Brock (the drunk). Choose Option 3: “Somehow, I don’t think you are the poor drunkard you pretend to be.” [Note: if you choose any other options, talking to him again will lock you from continuing the storyline, so consider it finished, unless you have a save file.] Then choose option 1. Follow the dialog. Choose option 1 again: “Damsels in distress are a speciality of mine”. Asks you to go outside and talk to lady. Go outside, Anabella Brinkley approaches you (she follows you wherever you go). Talk to Anabella Brinkley – she tells you her story and gives you 5 diamonds. You need to take her to Barbados (town on the other side of the island). Don’t go there on foot, instead, go to your ship and sail there.
On Barbados jetty, Anabella talks to you. She tells you to go to tavern, to look for her sister there. Go to tavern. Talk to tavernkeeper. Ask him about Miss Brinkley’s sister. He starts yelling, and tells that she is governor’s daughter. A group of soldiers will be in the tavern. One of them tells you that you are arrested. While you were speaking with the soldiers, Anabella has slipped away. They let you go for speaking like a drunkman (about a woman that isn’t there). Billy Brok suddenly comes from the upstairs and talks to you. He tells you to go upstairs and talk. [Screen reloads to tavern room upstairs] Anabella Brinkley approaches and talks to you. Tells you that they were putting you on a test to see if you were the right person for the task.
Go downstairs. In the main tavern room Susan Shaypen talks to you (she is standing in the middle of the room, might be bugged sometimes and won’t approache immediately, just go to the bar and wait there, at least that’s what happened to me once). She will ask you to meet her at Gray Rock Bay. – Questbook update
There are now going to be several choices, which lead to the same end, and which one you will choose is part of your personal preference. I suggest that you first read Option 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B and decide what you like better. There is only small difference in the outcome of the rewards. Options 1A and 2A give you Lyme Class Frigate as reward (or money), while options 2A and 2B give you Fast Galleon as reward (or money).
(Warning: Don’t sell all the diamonds, you will need them for the storyline quests. Find a way to earn money in a different way: trade, plundering, etc.)
OPTION 1A: MEET SUSAN SHAYPEN AT GRAY ROCK BAY AND HELP HER
Go to your ship. Sail to Gray Rock bay (it’s on Barbados island). Land there. Susan will be on the shore. She approaches and talks to you. She tells you her version of the Miss Brin and Brinkley story. Agree to help her. She tells you that you need to sail to Tortuga.
Sail to Tortuga. On jetty Susan talks to you. Go to tavern. Talk to tavernkeeper. Tell him: “Let’s talk business.” An option will show up where you ask him for a “captain woman who may have docked here in the last day or so”. Outside, in front of tavern, Susan talks to you. Then a guy named Bootstrap Bill Turner shows up and talks to you. He agrees to tell you where Miss Brinkley went, but wants a place on your ship. So you hire him. He reveals you where they went – to Nevis.
Sail to Pirate settlement on Nevis. On jetty Bootstrap Bill Turner talks to you. Go to the settlement through the jungle (you will see a palisade wall and a gate on your left). Once inside, go to store. Resuply your food and rum (I had it at very low quantity). Then go to tavern. Bootstrap Bill approaches you. Tells you that Brinkley is here. Need to find a local diamond trader named Eastwood. He has a house somewhere in the jungle.
Go outside of pirate settlement. Go past a house in the middle and continue straight (path on your right leads back to the port where your ship is moored). Once new section of the jungle loads, you have two ways to go: straight and left. Go left. Scene will reload to Eastwood’s house (screenshot below).

Approach the house. Clint Eastwood talks to you. Gives you the info about Brinkley in exchange for diamonds. Tells you she’s inside the cabin (house). Enter the house. [A woman is lying on the floor] Bootstrap Bill talks to you. Tells you that the woman (Miss Brinkley) has been killed. Go outside. Talk to Eastwood. He agrees to tell you more info about Miss Brinkley’s death if you sell him 6 more diamonds fo 20.000. He tells you to look for her ex partner, Brock (the drunkman you met in the tavern). His base of operations is Speightstown, so you need to sail there again. In the meantime, Bootstrap Bill Turner approaches you, he says he saw Hector Barbossa (he spawns near the house after you find Miss Brinkley’s body and go outside) and asks for permission to go with him. – Bootstrap leaves you. Susan talks to you. – Questbook update
Now you can leave the scene and go to port (or directly to ship through fast commands).
Sail to Speightstown Barbados in search of Brock. On Speightstown jetty Shaypen talks to you (tells you that you should split up here, cause Brock knows your face, but he doesn’t know her).
[SAVE HERE]Enter town. Now you have two choices, which lead to the same ending – the Brock’s hideout: either go to Shipyard or find Brock’s hideout which is marked in the screenshot below.

Option 1 (longer): Go to Shipyard
If you go to shipyard, Susan approaches you. Tells you she had no luck in finding Brock’s hideout. Tells you that a sailor told her that a ship has set sail for Turks last night, with some women passengers. Go outside. (If you go upstairs now into Brock’s hideout, it will be empty.)
Sail to Turks. It’s a pirate town, so make sure you raise the black flag, otherwise the fort will attack you. Go to Turks tavern. Find Thomas Tipman (standing in front of a door). Talk to him. You ask him about a ship that recently arrived here. Tells you that the smuggler Brock would never leave Speightstown. – Questbook update
Sail back to Speightstown, Barbados. On jetty Susan talks to you (repeats that that you should split up here, cause Brock knows your face, but he doesn’t know her). Also, if you go to shipyard again, she will tell you the same: she had no luck in finding Brock’s hideout. Tells you that a sailor told her that a ship has set sail for Turks last night, with some women passengers. But no questbook update this time (last entry will tell you what Tipman told you: Brocks is in Barbados). But this time, when you go upstairs where his hideout is located, Brocks and the Bring sisters will be there. Brock approaches and talks to you. Fight occurs. Kill Brock. When he falls dead to the ground, Susan and governor Brin enter the room. Susan talks to you. John Clifford Brin (the governor) talks to you. Says thank you for rescuing his daughters. Gives you a reward (a ship – English Fast Galleon). Go outside. On stairway, Susan talks to you. Tells you that she has to join the governor on his return trip to Jamaica. Gives you a reward – thins she found on Brock’s body. – Questbook update
Option 2 (shorter): Go to Brock’s hideout
Go to the house upstairs (marked with red arrow on screenshot). Once inside, Brock approaches and talks to you. There are two blond women standing behind him. Fight occurs. Kill Brock. When he falls dead to the ground, Susan and governor Brin enter the room. Susan talks to you. John Clifford Brin (the governor) talks to you. Says thank you for rescuing his daughters. Gives you a reward (a ship – English Fast Galleon).
Go outside. On stairway, Susan talks to you. Tells you that she has to join the governor on his return trip to Jamaica. Gives you a reward – things she found on Brock’s body. – Questbook update
Walk around town. Anamaria will approach you. Tells you that she’s in need of an officer’s position. Hire her. Gives you a piece of map. Tells you to meet her at the Lighthouse bay. Go to tavern. Cutler Beckett walks up and talks to you – he hires you to escort him to Port Royale Jamaica. - QB Update (for further steps, check the part named “Escorting Cutler Beckett”)

OPTION 1B: MEET SUSAN SHAYPEN AT GRAY ROCK BAY BUT DECIDE NOT TO HELP HER
Go to your ship. Sail to Gray Rock bay (it’s on Barbados island). Land there. Susan will be on the shore. She approaches and talks to you. She tells you her version of the Miss Brin and Brinkley story. Refuse to help her. She tells you that she’s an agent of the crown and takes your ship. Gives you a small tartane instead. Two guards with muskets approach you. They find you the smuggled diamonds and take you to prison. [Screen reloads to prison cell]
Prison commander Ronald Blacklock interrogates you. With cunning lies, you manage to slip off the imprisonment. He believes your story and lets you go.
Go outside. Go to your ship. Sail to Speigtstown with your tartane. Go to town. At the gate, James Norrington talks to you. Tells you about his task to report about pirates in these waters. – Questbook update.
Sail to Nevis (with your tartane). Go to Pirate settlement port. On jetty, Susan Shaypen talks to you. You ask her about your ship. She tells you that she seized it because she works for the Crown. When you get to the part where you get to choose two options:
Choice 1: Not this individual, this doesn’t. I shall be re-commandeering my vessels forthwith.
She draws her sword. Fight and kill her (she doesn’t die actually, she’s just wounded). Go to Pirate settlement tavern. Tavernkeeper tells you that you didn’t kill Susan. She is recovering upstairs. Tells you to talk with the “big man” yourself. That is pirate lord. Go to pirate leader’s house. Skull (that’s his name) talks to you. Conversation about the governor’s daughters. You get to the part where you have two choices: either to pay for the release of the governor’s daughters with 2 diamonds (2.100 gold), or choose the second option: “I think you should pay me to take them off your hands. Think about the alternative.” If you choose second option, he will fight you. Make sure you are leveled up properly, otherwise the fight will be difficult. You also get a piece of treasure map from him, which you will need later.
Now go to port. On jetty, Susan and governor’s daughters await you. Susan talks to you, angry about what you did. Sharpen leaves (wait until she leaves the scene). Anabella Brin talks to you after that. Thanks for rescuing her and her sister. Go back to your ship. Sail to Port Royale (Jamaica). Go to Town Hall. The Brin sisters auto run to their father, the governor. John Clifford Brin talks to you. Thanks for saving his daughters. Gives you two options to choose as a reward: gold or ship. If you choose ship, you get a 5th class Lyme Class Frigate. If you choose money, you get 50.000 gold. Better go for the ship. Sail to Speightstown (Barbados). On jetty, Susan talks to you. She tells you that Miss Brinkley is in prison, while Brock died fightning the arrest. She gives you a couple of items found on his body. Susan leaves. – Quest book update
Go into town. Anamaria will approach you. Tells you that she’s in need of an officer’s position. Hire her. Gives you a piece of map. Tells you to meet her at the Lighthouse bay. Go to tavern. Cutler Beckett walks up and talks to you – he hires you to escort him to Port Royale Jamaica. - QB Update (for further steps, check the part named “Escorting Cutler Beckett”)

Choice 2: Very noble, very noble indeed. Perhaps we should join forces after all.
Go to Pirate settlement tavern. Ask for a room to stay. She tells you that the room has been taken by some girls. Mentions the Big Man (the pirate lord). Susan talks to you. Go to the pirate lord’s house. Anabella Brinkley and pirate lord Skull await you there. She reveals herself and tells you how she used her look to trick you into kidnapping the governor’s daughters. They give you an offer, to take one sister to Jamaica, and leave Susan and the other to wait for the ransom. You make eye contact with Susan. Anabella Brinkley leaves the room to go and bring one of the sisters. Then you start manipulating the Pirate lord Skull how Anabella Brinkley wants to trick him and get the whole ransom for herself. (Long dialog). Skull gives you piece of map (for 2 diamonds). Go outside. Miss Brinkley talks to you. Go to port. Sail to Barbados (Bridgetown). On jetty, Susan Shaypen talks to you. Tells you that Miss Brinkley is in prison. Gives you the money for your ship. (OCCASIONAL BUG: Wait till she disappears before leaving - check she is not in your passengers list before sailing to Port Royale - if Shaypen is still passenger Brin girls will not run to father at Port Royale Townhall and quest will be broken).
Sail to Port Royale (Jamaica). Go to Town Hall. The Brin sisters auto run to their father, the governor. John Clifford Brin talks to you. Thanks for saving his daughters. Gives you two options to choose as a reward: gold or ship. If you choose ship, you get a 5th class Lyme Class Frigate. If you choose money, you get 50.000 gold. Better go for the ship. Part 3B: The Brotherhood storyline
Talk to Sir Cristopher Mings. He is sitting by the table (man in blue in the screenshot). He offers you to join him by the table. Gives you an offer to join the noble group of buccaneers. He tells you that, for the sake of privacy, you should join him in his private residence (a room just ahead of shipyard). Go there. It’s a house with stairs that lead to first floor. Enter the room. Questbook update (quest opened “The Brotherhood”). Mings will be sitting at his office desk. Talk to him. Tells you to go to tavern and talk to Cutler Beckett. Go to tavern, Beckett will approach you and talk to you. The Brock (drunk man) won’t be there now (you can only play either Brock – Brinkley storyline, or The Brotherhood (Mings) storyline.
Beckett gives you an escort job – to escort his ship to Jamaica. For this quest, follow Part 4: Escorting Cutler Beckett (cause it’s the same as for the Brock storyline). After you finish Part 4, the Mings quest continues as a separate story. When you do the Musceto Cove quest, sail to Antigua Naval Port – Ask one of the Naval officers where store is, he will tell you where things are. Go to Agent Victuallers (has guy in Red uniform behind counter) resupply and pick up cargo & package for Beckett – QB Update
Sail to Speightstown and go to Ming’s room - meet Mings and Lt Peter Willemoes - talk with Mings (if you do not get one of the items (packet or compass) - Mings will send you back to Antigua to get it - when you return to Mings with both items - Mings will tell you to take Lt Peter Willemoes to meet Capt. Petros in Guadeloupe). Transported out of Mings Room – QB Update - Mr Gibbs joins - talks to you.
Sail to Pointe a Pitre Guadeloupe. On jetty Mr Gibbs talks to you – tells you to go to tavern while he finishes his duties in town – QB Update. Go to tavern. On entering Ann Bonney says "Talk to Jack" go and talk to Jack Rackham & Cap’n Drow. They tell you to resupply ship and come back when ready to sail. Transported to Store - resupply if needed - go back to tavern. On entering tavern - Jack Rackham talks to you – QB Update
Sail to Anse Casse-Bois. Land there. Mr Gibbs talks to you. You have two choices:
Choice 1: Tell Mr Gibbs to stay
Go through jungle on your own. In the first jungle scene, go to the road that leads to the left. Transported to prison - Talk to Cap’n Drow. – escape – avoid 3 EITC officers in Port (they will chase you). Sail to Turks - on jetty Petros talks to you - gives you your ship back. Mr Gibbs leaves you. Sail to Lighthouse Bay, on Barbados. Find Anamaria (she will be at the cliff near the lighthouse). Go Searching for Nathan Kell (check below).
Choice 2: Gibbs to come inland with you
Go through jungle to Petros' Plantation - go into house. Talk to Petros - lots of talking - Willemoes talks - Capt Konrad talks - Willemoes leaves - Petros gives you part of map - asks you to rescue pirate. - QB Update. Accept. Go back to Anse Casse-Bois - sail to Puerto Rico. At San Juan, Puerto Rico, go to tavern - talk to tavern keeper, ask about captured pirate - then talk to Barbossa, sitting at table near door. – QB Update
Sail to island next to (south of) Puerto Rico. - go into jungle and find cave - Pirate ( Couch Captain Charles ) hiding in cave - talk to him. – QB Update. Take Couch Captain Charles back to Petros on Guadeloupe.. Petros talks to you - says Annamaria is waiting at Lighthouse on Barbados for you.- Mr Gibbs & Couch Captain Charles leave you. Sail to Lighthouse Bay, on Barbados. Find Anamaria (she will be at the cliff near the lighthouse).
Go searching for Nathan Kell.
Searching for Nathan Kell
Go to Bridgetown to find Nathan Kell. Don’t sail there by ship. It’s a TRAP! If you go by ship, Cutler Beckett gets you. Instead, go through canyon by path at back of beach. In Bridgetown - go to small church. Speak with Captain Damski. Get outside. On your right, there’s a house with a balcony. That’s apothecary. Go there. Room is empty. Go straight where the bookshelf is. Auto transported to a secret room. Speak to Nathan Kell. Gives you part of the map. After that, Captain Damski enters the room. Speaks to you. After dialog, go outside. Nathan Kell speaks to you again.
Go with Kell to Speighstown on foot. There’s a jungle exit that leads to Speightstown. Once in Speightstown, go to Ming’s hideout. Enter Mings room in Speightstown - Kell talks to you then - Kell talks to Mings - Mings talks to you - Lot of talk between you, Konrad Kulczycki & Lt Peter Willemoes.
In the end, Mings gives you two options:
Option 1: Sail to look for Treasure with Maximus & Philippe
Exit Mings Room - Maximus talks to you. Sail to Pointe a Pitre, Guadeloupe - Maximus talks to you on jetty. Go to tavern on entering Jack Rackham talks to you - takes all the bits of map from you.
Go to store and resupply ship at store ( if you don't go to store - when you come back to tavern talk to Lt Bligh for explanation). Go back to tavern Philippe talks to you – QB Update
Sail to Isla de Muerte - South-South-West of Jamaica and North West of Aruba )

Part 4: Escorting Cutler Beckett (After finishing the Mystery woman quest)
After Quest closed: Mystery woman (killing the smuggler Brock), and after dialog with Shaypen walk around the Speightstown town a bit. At some point, Anamaria will approach you. Tells you that she’s in need of an officer’s position. Hire her. Gives you a piece of map. Tells you to meet her at the Lighthouse bay. – Questbook update
Go to tavern. Cutler Beckett walks up and talks to you – he hires you to escort him to Port Royale Jamaica. – QB Update
Don’t go to the Lightouse just yet. Leave Anamaria for later. Instead, go directly to Port Royale on Jamaica. On jetty, Cutler Beckett talks to you. Tells you that he will meet you in the East India company’s office, to give you the payment. Go there (located on your right side from the main gate when you enter town). Once inside, auto talk to Silas Simpkins. Tells you to wait in the tavern, since Mr Beckett has not yet arrived from the docks (unloading ship cargo). Go to tavern and kill some time, or instead use the selfwait dialog and wait a few hours. Whichever option you choose (kill some time or pay to stay for the night to tavernkeeper), door to exit the tavern will be locked. You need to go upstairs. You will see Thomas Tipman (your tipman guy), standing there. Talk to him. Tells you about Hector Barbossa and the treasure of Cortez. – Questbook update
Now, go back to East India Trading Company’s office. Once inside, auto talk to Silas Simpkins. This time, Cutler Beckett will be there. Go upstairs and talk to him. He pays you for your escort service. At the same time, he offers you to work for him. (Note: if you accept, this opens a new quest called Join East India Trading Company). Accept or refuse. If you accept, you will be working for percentage. Gives you 10,000 to use and bring profits back to him (this bit only if you have just escorted Beckett to Jamaica – QB Update). Profit is calculated on the total of money you have when Becket gives you the 10,000 plus the 10,000 (i.e. you have 20,000 + 10,000 from Beckett – profit is calculated on 30,000). The good thing, there is no time limit, so you can return whenever you are ready.
Before you return to Cutler Beckett with the profit – if you have enough profit for him to send you to Muscetto Cove you will loose your ship and its cargo (get given EITC ship).
- a) If no profit – you get fired
- b) If profit less than 50% – you get the chance to try again
- c) If profit 50% - 100% – you are asked to Rescue EITC officer captive on Puerto Rico – William Wanderman
- d) If profit more than 100 % – hired and given EITC ship & Passport and sent to Muscetto Cove, Antigua (see below).
Start by doing random quests, trading, hunting pirates or whatever you find suitable to make some profit. Once you are ready, go back to Beckett.
Depending on the profit you make (hopefully 50%-100%, or more than 100%), Cutler Beckett will give you one of the two quests: Muscetto Cove or Rescue EITC officer captive on Puerto Rico - William Wanderman.
Muscetto Cove Quest
Once given this quest, you will get new clothes once you leave EITC office (after talking with Cutler Beckett who gives you this quest). Your mission is to sail to Antigua, get some special cargo and return to Jamaica, but you have to meed Cutler Beckett at Far Shore, not in EITC office.
Don’t sail to Antigua if you haven’t met Anamaria at Lighthouse at Barbados. Sail there first. Land at Lighthouse Bay. Anamaria talks to you. Tells you about the Cortez Treasure. Sail to Antigua Naval Port – Go to Naval Store. Speak to Agent Victuallers. Resupply your ship. Go to sea, sail to Muscetto Cove. At the beach, Tia Dalma (the witch) approaches you and speaks to you.

You ask her about the cargo, and she tells you that the cargo are slaves. After conversation, three guys looking like pirates come from the roadway between the cliffs and attack you. Kill them all (not hard to kill). She gives you the Aztec Compass, tells you that after this, you can’t go back to your employer (Cutler Beckett). Instead, you have to go back to Barbados, to the Lighthouse. She also gives you a new outfit – the real Jack Sparrow.

Go back to your ship. Sail to Barbados. Go to Lighthouse Bay. Anamaria talks to you. She tells you that Barbossa is on Martinique. But in order to get to him, you have to deal with the ship that haunts him – The Volcano. That ship prevents him from leaving the island. It sails around constantly. You have to sink it. At this point, you have the option to cancel the quest by choosing the second option in the dialog: I will bid you well and take my leave. (But you haven’t come this far to give up, haven’t you.)
Before sailing to Martinique, make sure you are properly equipped with cannonballs and gunpowder. Sail to Martinique (land at the southern part of the island). You will hear HURRAH sound play upon entering sea. That indicates that Volcano has properly spawned near island. At this point, change the flag to French. That way, French ships around the island won’t bother you. Press the Sail To button and look for Volcano II. You can manually sail to it, or use the Sail To option. [In Maelstrom version, you need to disable SailTo Restrictions in options, set them to POTC style.] Try shooting with cannons from close distance. There’s a chance that it will surrender. If it happens, board it, then sink it (or capture it).
Sail to Saint Pierre port. (HURRAH sound plays again). Turpin Cabanel approaches and speaks to you on jetty. He tells you that Barbossa is at the Octopus Bay. Anamaria talks to you, says she didn’t like the way Mister Cabanel answered to you when you mentioned Barbossa. She tells you not to go to Barbossa on land, but use the ship to get there instead. Sail to Octopus Bay. Go to the far left of the beach. Barbossa will be standing there. Talk to him. Refuses to give you the part of map. Then Anamaria talks to you. Tells you to give her a day or two to think how to soften Barbossa and runs off. Meet her after two days at Lighthouse Bay in Barbados. Sail to Lighthouse Bay, Barbados (don’t have to wait two days).
On Beach in a stormy weather Cutler Beckett walks up and talks to you - you are captured by him and your moored ship starts exploding - long talk with Cutler Beckett. Walk down the beach to rowing boat - board Beckett's ship set sail and go to World Map - Storm Scene should appear - then image of body on beach - you are taken to beach at night. Davy Jones walks up and talks to you. – Accept his offer. I tried refusing it, but I had hit a dead end and didn’t know what to do. So better go with option 1. He gives you a new ship – THE BLACK PEARL, and tells you to join the Brethren of the Coast in Pirate Settlement on Nevis. He also tells you to visit Barbossa in Tortuga.
Rescue EITC officer captive on Puerto Rico Quest
If your profit was 50-100%, Cutler Beckett will give you this mission. Beckett tells you that one of his officers has been captured by the Spanish. He needs you to rescue him. He tells you that he is somewhere on Puerto Rico, but doesn’t know the exact whereabouts. Go to tavern. Go upstairs. Talk to Thomas Tipman.He agrees to help you find the Beckett’s officer. He also gives you new clothes (Jack Sparrow movie outfit), so that you don’t drag too much attention.
Sail to San Juan, Puerto Rico. Go to port. On jetty, Thomas Tipman talks to you. You both agree to look around town and meet in tavern to compare what you found. Go to tavern. Thomas Tipman never shows up. Go outside, pass the bridge leading to the port gate. On the left side, in a corned near the wall, behind bushes, Thomas the Terror will be standing.

Talk to him. He gives you two choices to rescue the missing officer: the easy way (go to the governor and pay 20.000 for ransom), or the hard way (rescue him yourself). Tells you to get ready for a fight and meet him in front of Blacksmith’s shop. Go there manually, or use the fast travel command to get to Blacksmith (you will be teleported outside, and Thomas the Terror will be standing up on the stairs). Talk to him. Tells you to go to the jungle (the gates will be behind you). Go into the jungle. Fight your way through the cliffs by killing bandits. You will get to a cave entrance. Takes you to another part of island where the bridge is. Continue fighting until you kill all of them. On the very left end of the beach, you will see William Wanderman standing. Talk to him. You cannot take him to the ship by land, cause the Spanish are looking for him. You have to go back to your ship and come to the beach from sea. Go back through the jungle and into town. Go to port. Thomas the Terror talks to you at port and says farewell. He tells you that Oyster Beach is the place where your officer is waiting. Go to sea. Sail to Oyster Beach. Go to the same part of the beach where you left the officer Wanderman. Talk to him. Joins your company. Take him back to Jamaica. Go to Cutler Beckett’s office (Eeast India Trading Company). Pick up the reward. Gives you another mission (quest related mission), to go and pick up a cargo at Muscetto Cove. Gives you new clothes (the EITC officer’s clothes).
Depending on the profit you made for him, you can either play both quests (Muscetto Cove and Rescue the officer at Puerto Rico, or only Muscetto cove quest if your profit was more than 100%). For the Muscetto Cove quest, check the upper part to continue this guide.

Part 5: The Curse of the Black Pearl storyline
Sail to Tortuga. Go to tavern. Talk to Barbossa. Accept his offer (he gives you part of map – Bottom Right) – QB Update
- Go outside. In front of tavern talk to Barbossa (you need to start the conversation). He tells you that you should hire Pintel and Ragetti before getting the treasure. Go and find Ragetti & Pintel. go to the far end of Tortuga, where the docks are. You will find these two guys here. Talk to Ragetti and Pintel ask what they can do and hire them.

Sail to Isla de Muerte (on World map just south of Jamaica).

Go to Deserted Shore, go to second part of beach, walk along beach stop near boats, get inside the cave where the treasure chests are and Barbossa will talk to you. He tells you that British ship is following you - suggests to leave and sail away and sail back later. Agree with plan - QB Update
Go back to ship - go to world map - transported to Mutiny Scene on Ship Deck with Barbossa - then transported to beach. – Watch Black Pearl sail away. – QB Update

Go through jungle on the other side of the island and find beach with smugglers. One of the smugglers talks to you. Asks you whether you know to navigate the ship to Tortuga. Their captain died, and they don’t know to navigate at sea.
Sail to Tortuga - Smuggler says Thanks on jetty – QB Update. Go to tavern, screen transported to table Mr Gibbs talking to Guy Verbinski (the whole story started there if you remember). Gibbs tells Verbinski that nothing happened for 10 years, until Jack Sparrow was finally approached by Anamaria in tavern one day…
Screen changes back to present time, where Jack Sparrow is sitting with Mr Gibbs. Annamaria enters the tavern and talks to you. – Gives you back compass (Barbossa didn’t know how to use it). – Exit tavern – talk to self (QB Update) - steal Annamaria’s boat - on setting sail QB update – Sail to Jamaica. On arrival at Port Royale a sequence from the movie Curse of the Black Pearl plays: Jack Sparrow’s arrival at port. On jetty port master Laurence Wellman talks to you. You bribe him with 3 shillings. Then talk to self, Jack sees the Interceptor being moored and guarded by two soldiers. EITHER – go and talk to the soldiers on the other jetty, OR go into town and talk to Henry the Beggar. IF you talk to soldiers, one of them, tells you that this part of jetty is limited for civilians. [Long dialog about different ships – same conversation as in the movie]. Elizabeth Swann hear falling from the fort walls into water. Jack auto runs to the end of the jetty, jumps into the water. Self talk dialog: the cursed coin has alarmed the Black Pearl. Conversation with Elizabeth, then governor and James Norrington run to the docks. They want to hang you for being a pirate, you escape by punching all of them in the face. Kill one of the soldiers that is chasing you. (Don’t run into town, cause I did that and that brakes the quest logic.) After killing him, transported automatically to next scene. You are in Blacksmith’s shop, and Will Turner talks to you. Gets angry because you threatened Miss Swann. Draws his sword. Fight him. After a few hits, talks to you again. In the meantime, an English soldier enters the room and punches you from behind. Transported to prison cell. Guard walks up to you, tells you that you are lucky to be in prison, town is under attack by the Black Pearl. A video cutscene plays with skeleton pirates on Black Pearl. After that, a skeleton pirate approcahes your cell. Conversation about how they betrayed you and how they are cursed now. Skeletons leave. Will Turner comes after they go. Talks to you in prison cell. Transported to port. You agreed to help him find Elizabeth, who has been kidnapped by Barbossa’s haunted crew. Transported to Dauntless’ deck. Your plan to swap ships (move to Interceptor while Norrington’s crew searches the Dauntless) works. Transported to Norrington’s perspective. He watches as Interceptor sails away. Transported to Interceptor at sea. Now you command it.
Sail to Tortuga. On jetty Will Turner talks to you. Gets angry for flying under pirate flag. You need to talk to Mr Gibbs. Go the far right part of the docks. Near the shipyard, Gibbs will be sitting on the ground.

Talk to him. You tell him that you need crew. Conversation continues in tavern. Transported to tavern. Gibbs gets suspicious on your chances of success, but then you tell him that Will Turner is the very son of Bootstrap Bill Turner, the famous pirate. Teleported to docks. Mr Gibbs awaits you with some crew he found. You inspect them and tell him that they are ok. Anamaria approaches you from nowhere. Slaps you in the face for stealing her boat. Annamaria joins you, then Mr Gibbs talks to you about having a woman onboard. Crew boards the Interceptor. – Questbook update
Sail to Isla de Muerta. Land at Deserted Shore. Will Turner talks to you on beach, then give Mr Gibbs orders. Go to Treasure cave. Film Sequence starts. Will Turner talks to you. He’s impatient because you don’t do anything yet to save Elizabeth. He knocks you out, and runs to the Barbossa and the crew. Screen fades. Now Barbossa talks to you. Takes you as his captive, because Miss Elizabeth’s blood didn’t lift the curse. He’s after Turner, but only you know that. – HURRAH sound – Now you play as Barbossa. Teleported to Deserted shore. Board Black Pearl then sail after Interceptor and sink her.
Transported to deck of Black Pearl. You play as Jack Sparrow again.

Barbossa talks - Will Turner talks and reveals his identiy. - Barbossa leaves you and Elizabeth Swann on a deserted island. Transported to Beach, Black Pearl sailing away. – Talk to Elizabeth Swann – QB Update
Go through jungle to other beach, the one where you found smugglers last time Barbossa dumped you on the shore. - Norrington arrives talks to you - Transported to deck of HMS Dauntless, you are near the shores of Isla de Muerta. - Norrington talks to you. You tell him about your plan to go to cave and drag Barbossa’s crew out.
Transported to Treasure Cave. Go and talk to Barbossa. He can’t belive you got away for the second time. You trick him into sending his crew to the Dauntless. Scene reloads. He tells that they are taking too long to capture it. Gets suspicious. Fight Barbossa & kill him (he and his crew are invincible for a few moments, supposedly Will throws a coin with his blood into the chest, and they become vulnerable again). - Will Turner & Eliz Swann talk to you - Norrington arrives & talks to you. You are under arrest for piracy.
Transported to Port Royale Fort - About to be hanged - Lots of talking (most of this is automatic). They pass the sentence to you. At one moment, you punch Norrignton. You run up to the walls of the fort. – Escape the soldiers (don’t let them hit you) YOU NEEDTO RUN ONE CIRCLE AROUND THE STAIRS AND COME BACK WHERE THE AUTO RUN HAPPENED, WHERE THE ROPE IS HANGING! Then Jack will speak to Norrginton, and transported to Black Pearl. I played this part many times, it’s a bit buggy, but it is as it is. Just don’t let them hit you with muskets, cause you will die.
- Transported to Black Pearl near the Rocky Shore. HMS Dauntless will be near you and chasing you. Destroy or capture it. I captured it, gave the Black Pearl to Mr Gibbs to command it, and I took the Dauntless. (If you capture it, you can take Norrignton as your prisoner, not quest related though, but fun). After that – questbook update.

Curse of the Black Pearl finished. This is the end of the Main Story.
Part 6: Dead Man’s Chest storyline
NOTE: Depending on your level this quest can be played before you meet Davy Jones in the Main Story - Once you meet Davy Jones you can not play this quest until after Curse of the Black Pearl in the Main Story --- To start this before meeting Davy Jones - your Level must be more than 4 - go to Saint Domingue , Hispaniola, Town hall and talk to the Admiral. I don’t recommend playing that way, so stick with the order from this walkthrough.
After defeating The Dauntless and finishing the Curse of the Black Pearl storyline, sail to Tortuga. Find Thomas Tipman. Talk to him. He tells you that Admiral of Santo Domingo in Hispaniola has lost his son.
Find the missing son of the Spanish Admiral
Sail to Santo Domingo. Go to Town Hall. Talk to Admiral Joaquim Da Saldanha – QB Update
He tells you about the disappearance of his son Lucas. Tells you that he was last seen in St Pierre on Martinique. Sail there. Go to tavern and talk to tavernkeeper. Ask him about Lucas. Tells you why he disappeared and how he fell in love with the governor’s daughter. Go and visit her, she walks in the outskirts of the town, guarded by soldiers.

Talk to Justine Le Moigne. You have two options to chose, I chose the one telling that his father is worried about him. But whatever you choose, it won’t break the quest logic. She tells you that Lucas is on his way to see his father, after all. Go back to Santo Domingo on Hispaniola. Go to Town Hall. Talk to Admiral Joaquim Da Saldanha. He tells you that some pirates have kiddnaped his son Lucas while he was on his way from Martinique. He orders you to go and meed the pirates and pay the ransom (beware: you have 1 month to do the ransom, otherwise quest fails and they kill Lucas). Sail to La Grenade. Go to Smuggler’s Lair. From town, go to jungle, then just go straight unti you get to a palisade wall.

Go into settlement. Go to tavern. Two smugglers wait by the bar. You have two options: to listen what they speak first, or to show them the sign with your hand immediately. Whatever you chose, leads to same end. They invite you to follow them outside. Once outside, one of the smugglers goes in to a house on the left from tavern. That’s their hideout. Enter it. Inside, smuggler tells you to wait unti he speaks with his boses (two man sitting by the table, one of them is Lucas). He returns and tells you that the price is 20.000 gold. Pay for ransom. Go outside, Lucas talks to you. You tell him that his father sent you. Sail back to Santo Domingo. Go to Town Hall. Auto-scene, Lucas walks to his father. His father talks to you, says thank you. Lucas talks to you, offers to join you as officer on your ship. Accept or refuse (if refuse, you can always come back to Town Hall and hire him). I suggest you hire him, to speed up the events that lead to Dead Man’s Chest storyline.
After this, you need to wait 3 months to pass. Do some free play for this period. After 3 months, Lucas will talk to you on jetty. He will ask you to go and see Justine Le Moigne on Martinique. Accept.
Justine Le Moigne’s Disappearance Quest
Finally, after 3 months, Lucas will speak to you when you land on any island. He will ask for permission to see Miss Le Moigne once more. You have two options: to allow and set sail to Martinique, or to refuse, which will end the questline.

Approve his request. Sail to Martinique. Land in St Pierre port. A man named Captain Maggee will approach you on jetty. Tells you that something has happened to governor’s daughter and that you should go and visit the governor. Go to Town Hall. Talk to governor. Gives you a mission to find his daughter who has disappeared on a way to Havana. Offers to pay you 40.000 gold for finding her. Go outside. Captain Maggee approaches you and talks. Offers to sail with you since he was also going to Havana.
Sail to Havana, Cuba. Go to Port. Captain Maggee says thank you for the escort. Go to Admiral’s Residence in Havana. (Looks like governor’s town hall, image below.)

Talk to Port Admiral Talicerdor. Tells you that the convoy that was sailing to Havana was caught up in a storm, and then a pirate ship came and destroyed all the convoy ships. Tells you that this happened somewhere near Marigot. Sail to Marigot in St. Martin. Go to Port. – Questbook update
Go and visit the governor. Tells you that frigate has not arrived in port, and that it was supposed to arrive long time ago. Go to tavern, talk with tavernkeeper. No luck there. You decide to go to Philipsburg, which is a town on the same island, St Martin. Go to Town Hall. Ask governor about the frigate ‘La Foudre’. Tells you that no frigate has been seen in these waters. Tells you about a violent storm that happened in these waters a few days ago. Go to tavern. Talk with tavernkeeper. Tells you about a fisherman who saw a ship sinking during the storm. Tells you to go and ask in store. Go to store. A man named Reynoud Verheugen will be in store, talking to the store owner. Talk to him. Tells you that he saw the ship being dragged by a huge octopus, and then another ship emerged from water. Sail to Baie D’Orient, St Martin. Go to shore. A French soldier will be lying drowned on the beach.

Approach the body and press SPACE button. You will find a small chest near the body. You find the captain’s journal.
Sail to Grand Turks. You want to investigate the books about the mysterious sea events in Grand Turk’s library. Go to port. Go to Library. A self dialog will play. Jack Sparrow reads about the Kraken and Davy Jones. Go outside. A storm is raging. Go to the port (don’t go anywhere else, don’t use fast travel). At the port gate, Palafico (Davy Jones’ crew member) will stop you and talk to you.

Sail to Havana, Cuba. Go to Vice Admiral’s residence and talk to Admiral Talicerdor. – Questbook update.
Go to ship. Sail to Martinique. Once in Worldmap, wherever you land (not necessarily near Martinique), you will be transported to Davy Jones’ deck. Davy Jones talks to you. You start playing dice game. He loses, Justine Le Moigne appears on deck. You tell her that you are taking her to her father. Sail to St Pierre on Martinique. Once you go to sea, The Flying Dutchman will appear near you and attack you. Run away. You can’t destroy it, it’s invincible. Sail to St Pierre directly and go to land. Go and talk to governor. Tells you to help the guards suppress the pirate attack. Go outside, a fight will start in stormy night with the skeletons. Kill them all (Jack will say: I Think I should run!). Run to the port gates left from Town Hall (not the right ones that lead to port). Palafico runs to you and talks. Teleported to beach in front of the gates. Palafico talks to you, then you push Davy Jones into the water, telling him that you knew that he can set foot on the ground every 10 years. He draws gun and shoots you. You fall to the ground. Teleported to a bedroom. Justine Le Moigne wakes you up. Tells you to go and see her father. Davy Jones has left the island. Go to Town Hall. Take the reward from governor. Go outside. In front of Town Hall, Capatain Maggee approaches you accompanied by Tia Dalma. Tia Dalma joins your company.
The outcome will now change if the player is a Pirate Lord!
If player IS NOT a Pirate Lord:
Go to sea. – Enter World map – Sail for a bit around, go to sea (anywhere on World Map) transported to Ship Deck – Davy Jones' talks to you– Tia Dalma talks to Davy Jones' – leaves with him - QB Update - now back at sea.

Sail to Antigua. Go to Muscetto Cove. Tia Dalma talks to you. Takes you to her shack. Talks to you again outside the shack. Go to the shack’s door. Transported inside. Tia Dalma talks to you again. Leave the shack. Teleported to ship. Set sail to Turks. On jetty Elton Garfield talks to you. Go and find the guards standing by the fountain.

Talk to guard captain. Here you will have two choices: - (See Below)
- Let the guards capture you:
Automatically follow the guards to your cell – thrown into the cell – Atwood Paddley talks to you – Escape the cell.
Talk Self and escape (see Below)
- Attack the guards
Automatically draw your weapon and shoot prison guard captain – other guards attack you – kill the guards – go further into the prison.
Talk self – more guards run to attack you – kill the guards and go find Atwood Paddley, he is in the furthest left cell.

Talk self – automatically run to another cell – Talk self and hide in the cell – wait for the guards to run up to the cell – listen to the guards talking.

Sail to Cozumel. When near Cozumel shore get teleported to your cabin or deck. (Depends on your ship) Automatically walk around the ship (route depends on your ship) – Bootstrap Bill Turner appears and talks to you – teleported to Cozumel shore. – QB Update
Mister Gibbs runs up to you and talks - go to the jungle entrance - cannibals attack your party - kill the cannibals. Anamaria talks to you - go to the first jungle path to your left - automatically run after your party - talk with Mister Gibbs - teleported to cannibal village. Talk to cannibal chief - Will Turner appears and walks up to you - talk and fight the cannibals around you. Exit the village - automatically run to the bridge chased by the cannibals - fight the cannibals - run to the cave entrance.
Fight the cannibals in cavern - automatically walk up to Mister Gibbs and talk- find an exit from the cave (only one exit will be open) and escape to jungle. Escape the jungle same way you have entered - cannibals attack your party - kill the cannibals - Anamaria talks to you. Teleported to the shore - automatically run to your boat and escape - movie scene plays.
Teleported to ship deck - talk to your party. – QB Update
Now you have around 25 days to sail to Muscetto Cove on Antigua, if you don't hurry the Kraken attacks and sinks your ship when you enter sea. On Muscetto Cove shore Mister Gibbs talks to you - automatically run to the jungle - teleported into the jungle.
Will Turner talks to you - follow him and enter the smugglers den - automatically walk up to the smugglers.
Here you will have two choices:
- Fight the smugglers.
- Bribe the smugglers. (must have 10.000 or more gold in inventory)
After dealing with the smugglers Will Turner talks to you - exit smugglers den back to the jungle - take the first exit to your left into the jungle.
Appear in the Swamp shack location - Will Turner talks to you - automatically run to Dalma's shack and enter.
A lot of dialogue between your party and Tia Dalma - Movie scene plays - teleported to ship's deck - Will Turner talks to you.
Teleported to a shipwreck - find two sailors on the ship (go up the stairs on both sides of the ship) - talk to both of them - a corpse is washed onto deck - talk self - search for the corpse (it will be near your boat in the water) - talk to the corpse.
Movie scene plays - see the flying Dutchman near the shipwreck - think about bad decisions - Davy Jones' crew appears and attacks you - you can fight but some of them will be invincible and eventually kill you.
Davy Jones' appears on shipwreck - dialogue between the survivors and Jones' - Movie scene plays. Davy Jones' teleports to your deck - dialogue - teleported to Tortuga jetty.
Mister Gibbs talks to you - teleported to Tortuga tavern - sailors appear and you recruit them to your crew. (everything happens automatically)
James Norrington appears - talks to you - a fight starts between you - wait for Elizabeth Swann to appear and bonk him - talk with Elizabeth - teleported to Tortuga jetty again.
Dialogue between you and Elizabeth, Norrington and Gibbs - teleported to ship's deck. – QB Update
This is where the story ends. It’s unfinished though.
